TJ has a rich and dynamic background that allows her to connect with various clients on all levels. Her mission is to provide compassionate and expert care to those struggling with psychological roadblocks that prevent them from experiencing life to its fullest. She has been in the business of human capacity building and investing in others for almost 19 years, including secondary educator, college program coordinator, pharmacy technician, research assistant, and Army Reserve Officer before her journey into Nursing. TJ's personal experiences in life have primed her for the mental health field through parenting, divorce, and marriage which often shines through her work.
Tonjanika Ballard obtained her BS in Biology at Texas AM – University while on a Track and Field Scholarship. MS in Biology at Fayetteville State University with focus research on Parkinson's Disease. Bachelor of Science in Nursing from North Carolina Central University While attending North Carolina Central, she was a research assistant with the Diabetes Family Project. A family-focused self-management education intervention program for rural African Americans funded by the National Institute of Health Minority Division. MSN in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Doctor of Nursing Practice at Chatham University
Mrs. Ballard has worked as a Clinical Research Liaison and conducted Genesight testing for Alliance Research Group. Her research responsibilities also involved products for the treatment of Schizophrenia. Currently, she is working closely with youth under court supervision within the Juvenile Justice System in the City of Richmond and providing psychiatric services, including medication management, psychotherapy, and other services. Mrs. Ballard was also awarded the Nursing Alumni under "40" award from Virginia Commonwealth University Spring 2017 for her accomplishments in the community as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
